About Hanna

“My mission is to help my clients achieve their desired impact at work and in their lives, to be their best and bring out the best in others, and to chart a path of sustainable growth and satisfaction.”

Hanna Hart brings a pragmatic and inspired approach to leadership, talent development, team-building, and facilitation as she supports executives, individuals and teams in developing bold initiatives and sustainable practices. Hanna creates powerful alliances with clients through an open but rigorous process. She persistently challenges the status quo, while encouraging creativity and meaningful goal-setting. Hanna encourages clients to try new approaches and behaviors and invites them to look “under the hood” at the beliefs and assumptions that drive their behaviors. The result is sustainable improvement in performance and satisfaction.

Hanna is a facilitator of the Stanford Graduate School of Business most popular elective course, Interpersonal Dynamics. She writes extensively and is a contributor to Forbes.com and the Harvard Business Review.

Before becoming a coach, Hanna practiced law at internationally renowned Davis Polk & Wardwell, representing clients including JP Morgan and Morgan Stanley in financial transactions and advising clients about environmental risks in mergers and acquisitions. She has been an editor, a community mediator, and president of the board of a non-profit. An avid world traveler, Hanna regularly immerses herself in new environments while maintaining her internal compass, a skill which serves her and her clients well. She has been married for over two decades to Reece and together they parent three amazing people.

Hanna received her BA in philosophy, cum laude, from Yale College and earned a JD from the University of Virginia School of Law, where she helped found the Virginia Journal of Social Policy and the Law. She clerked for the Hon. Bernard G. Barrow on the Virginia Court of Appeals. Hanna completed coach training at the Coaches Training Institute in San Rafael, California, the world’s premier coaching school.

Clients include: Google, Ripple, Coursera, Nest, Verily, Twitter, Gilead, The Natural Resources Defense Council, Clorox, Farallon Capital Management, numerous law firms, including Davis Polk, and various major foundations.

When not coaching or facilitating, Hanna enjoys exploring San Francisco and the Bay Area with her family. They love to visit the city’s museums, parks, and neighborhoods and to escape the city to go hiking in the redwoods or skiing in Tahoe. She loves riding her bike, plunging in the Pacific, reading, attending the theater and live music, and eating good food. A passionate traveler, Hanna has journeyed to many faraway places, including trekking in Nepal, backpacking in Patagonia, hiking the Inca Trail, and temple-crawling in Cambodia. She loves to immerse herself in other cultures and challenge herself physically and mentally. Hanna is active in her community, serving those who live in poverty. She is President of the board of Up On Top, an afterschool program in the Tenderloin, and leads teams of volunteers with the Interfaith Food Pantry and Interfaith Winter Shelter. Hanna is active with the Volunteer Coach Program.
